Anup Rubens always wanted to be a stage performer. In his college days, he formed a rock band ‘Rockstar’ along with some of his friends and used to do stage shows. Later his financial problems forced him to join music directors as Keyboard player. The first movie he worked as Keyboard player is UdayKiran’sChitram. He went on working for about 400 movies as Keyboard player under several music directors.
Watching his work close during his stay with Chakri, PuriJagannadh offered him music director role for Ravi Teja’sItluSravaniSubrahmanyam. But at that young age, anup was not courageous to accept the challenge and gave it a miss. Years later in 2004, he became music director with director Teja’s Jai movie starring Navdeep. He went on doing movies without much success. The biggest offer of his life once again came from PuriJagannadh.
He was roped in to score back ground music for Nenu Naa Rakshasi and Bollywood film, Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap starring Amitabh Bachchan. Both these movies gave him the star status. As a music director, his biggest success came with Sai Kumar son Aadi’s debut film, PremaKavali. He got both the success and recognition with the movie. Later he followed the success with Poolarangadu, Ishq, Lovely and Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyindhe.
Akkineni family had bigger things to offer for him. He scored music for Naga Chaitanya’s Autonagar Surya and Akkineni Multistarer movie, Manam. While Autonagar Surya was an ordinary stuff, Manam ended up as the biggest hit of the year. Anup was supposed to score music for NTR’s Rabhasa but he was shown door from the project after it began due to some unknown reasons. However the opportunity came searching from him once again for NTR’s immediate next film, Temper. 2015 saw the first big release of Anup in the form of Gopala Gopala and his work was impressive in the film.Recent Form:
